The Featured Car section is to highlight a club member's car. We will accept any aircooled VW regardless of condition. We want to see all of your works in progress and learn more about them. Show off all that hard work by submitting your VW pics and detailed info on your car. Before and after pics are a plus. Add any stories that go along with the pics. Shayne Howell's 66 Beetle

I've had her since Mar 16 of this year. She's the first VW my wife or I have had since we were kids but between the two of us had a bug, a bus, a dual cab and a Type 3 variant when we were younger. Her nickname is Pickle but her real name is Norah (scratched into the inside of the glove compartment door. I was told I'm the fourth owner. She's a 66 (Aug 65). Mostly stock except the paint. The engine is a 63 case and we think it's a 1500 out of a bus. About the only serious work I've done on her so far is to replace the tie rods and steering dampener so the front wheels wouldn't fall off (it was really that bad). Lots of plans for her including fixing the paint but with two kids in college I count myself lucky just to have her. I drive her to work (about 9 miles each way) most every day.

Future plans, First restore work I'll tackle is the rack - clean it up and hopefully powdercoat it if I can afford it, if not, a good paint job. Mechanically, I'll keep working on the running gear first. Start with finishing the front suspension - ball joints and shocks (no lowering - I'm definitely going for the stock look). Then I'll probably redo the brake system next. Maybe work in some rubber replacements in between
